Ten minutes from an empty canvas to a plucky, filtered sound with a little space around it. Every step is undoable, so try things as you go.
Build it
- Start empty. Tap the patch name at the top left to open Patches and tap New. The canvas has Notes In, the Macros bar along the bottom and the Output.
- Add a source. Tap + and pick Basic from the Sources column. It plays straight away: it gets the notes, and a new Amp beside it is cabled into the Output.
- Play it. Tap the keys button in the bottom-right corner to bring up the keyboard and play a few notes.
- Add a filter. Tap + and pick Filter. Drag the new node onto the cable between Basic and the Amp and hold it there. When the cable lights up, let go and the Filter is cabled in.
- Add an envelope. Tap + and pick Envelope. Drag from the dot on its bottom edge onto the Filter and choose Cutoff from the list.
- Shape it. Tap the Filter, then tap it again to open it, and lower the cutoff so the envelope has room to open it. Open the Envelope and shorten its decay and sustain for a pluck, or lengthen its attack for a swell.
- Add space. Tap + and pick Reverb, then drag it onto the cable between the Amp and the Output.
- Save it. Open Patches and tap Save. A new sound comes with a random name; keep it or type your own.
Try next
- Swap Basic for another source. Every source has its own picture: drag it to hear what it does.
- Cable an Oscillator into the Filter’s cutoff for a slow sweep, or into the Reverb’s mix.
- Tap a quick slot (1 to 4) in a popup’s header to glide that node to a ready-made setting.
